Last night Insights raised more than £70,000 for our chosen charity, Mary’s Meals, at a black-tie gala.
A total of £72,315 was raised during the event at The Principal George Hotel in Edinburgh on Thursday (27 April), which was attended by over 200 people.
Mary’s Meals is a global movement that sets up school feeding programmes in some of the world’s poorest communities, where poverty and hunger prevent children from gaining an education.
By providing one daily meal in a place of learning, Mary’s Meals enables chronically hungry children to attend school, where they receive an education that can offer a route out of poverty.
Marcus Wylie who leads on Insights’ corporate social responsibility activity said:
I’m truly inspired by the generosity of everyone who attended the event and supported Insights and Mary’s Meals. We hoped to raise £40,000, but we absolutely smashed that target. We raised enough to feed 5202 children for an entire year. It’s truly amazing and a tribute to everyone involved.
Insights selected Mary’s Meals as its charity of the year and the company set itself the ambitious fundraising target of £150,000 over an 18 month period. If successful, Insights will help feed more than 10,000 children.
Mary’s Meals Founder and Chief Executive Magnus MacFarlane-Barrow said:
It’s great that Insights has chosen Mary’s Meals as its global charity partner, helping to spread the word about our work even further and raising funds for our school feeding programme.
The Charity Ball is a first for Insights, as part of their corporate social responsibility programme. The programme is enabling colleagues around the globe get involved with a variety of fundraising activities including walking the Great Wall of China and the North Coast 500 challenge.
